Embrace Time, Transform Your Life: A Self-Care Journey

A look into self-care, approach to time and how to make yourself a priority

Today, we are all in for a treat, as this email is brought to you, courtesy of my friend and AME for Greatness colleague - Ann Smets, (https://www.balanns.me). I read her email and knew you would enjoy it too, so here it is 🥳

Last week was heavy, overwhelmed by a mountain of “to-do” tasks. I felt overwhelmed, which is rare! Then, I heard a clear message from my Guides and Guardian Angels say: STOP! This is not how it works. I listened. I paused, stepped back, and went inward.

I realized how TIME, often seen as a relentless force in our 3D reality, can easily consume us, especially in the Western world. Yet, it's just an illusion.

I realized this years ago when my husband, Andrew, moved in with me in Belgium. Born and raised in Zambia, he approached life with a "Pole Pole" philosophy, savouring the journey rather than rushing to the destination. In contrast, my Belgian upbringing taught me the efficiency of doing everything yesterday rather than today.

This caused some friction in our early stage of “togetherness,” but I embraced it!

During a memorable vacation in Tanzania, I was inspired by the Maasai people's connection to nature. They live by the day-night cycles, guided by nature's rhythms. Andrew often shares his words of wisdom: "The Africans own time, we own the clock."

It took years to internalize this philosophy, and once I did, it felt liberating!

Freeing ourselves from time pressure enhances creativity and productivity. Here are ways to unwind and their benefits:

Practice Mindfulness: Spend a few minutes daily to meditate or breathe deeply, grounding yourself in the present moment.
Prioritize Nature: Spend time outdoors. Nature's rhythms can calm your mind and remind you of life's simple joys.
Embrace Flexibility: Let your routine align with your natural energy levels instead of rigid schedules.
Limit Screen Time: Designate tech-free periods in your day for meaningful, screen-free activities.

Schedule 'Me Time': Set aside moments for self-care to nourish your body, mind, and spirit. (Great news on this subject! See Below!)

The benefits of prioritizing "me time" are profound:

- Physical: Reduced stress, improved sleep, increased energy.
- Emotional: Heightened mood, increased patience, and greater emotional resilience.
- Spiritual: Deeper self-connection, enhanced intuition, and inner peace.

Inspired by these insights, I considered how to show the world that self-care isn’t “hard” or “time-consuming.”

This week, in Healing Conversations, I was chatting with Divya Dhawan about 'How I healed my Sjogren disease naturally'.

In this episode, Divya Dhawan shares her compelling journey from experiencing chronic health issues and eventually being diagnosed with Sjogren's syndrome—now reclassified as a disease—to achieving full remission through lifestyle changes. She emphasises the significance of gut health, stress management, and environmental toxins in developing autoimmune conditions. She discusses the benefits of tailored diet plans and functional lab testing for individual needs.

We delve into the importance of emotional well-being, the impact of toxins and heavy metals, and the role of yoga, meditation, and breathing exercises in healing. Divya's approach combines Ayurvedic principles and modern health practices, advocating for a holistic, individualised path to wellness.

More about Divya:

Her biggest adversity has become her biggest teacher! Yes, Divya Dhawan took it upon herself to find a solution for her autoimmune disorder – Sjögren's disease, after her rheumatologist and doctors told her that she has to live with this disorder for her whole life and there is no cure. She used diet, lifestyle and mind-body techniques to prove the doctors wrong and put her autoimmunity into remission- 11 years ago and is still thriving and helping so many women reclaim their health and life!

Her passion for natural health has led her to become a national board-certified Functional health practitioner and an autoimmune expert! She believes that the power to heal our body is within us and we only need to tap into that innate healing potential!

I am so excited to share that my first-ever 'Beyond Medicine: Exploring Natural Cancer Solutions' online summit is now opening its doors for early bird purchases.

"Receiving a cancer diagnosis is one of the scariest moments anyone could be faced with - for themselves or a loved one. Some people will go down the accepted Western approach of chemotherapy and radiography, and others will start looking for alternative routes to healing.

This summit is here to help you explore some of the natural and/or alternative approaches to healing cancer, brought to you directly from some of the most incredible people out there!

Thirty international speakers bring their approaches, methods, research, discoveries and stories - directly to your door (screen) and invite you to make up your own mind about which feels right to dig deeper into and which to leave for later.

None of the speakers is trying to influence your decision or tell you their method works more than others, and no one is telling you to go all in into the alternative ways of healing and ditch your chemo - you are asked to follow your own gut and only do what you believe is right. This said, all the speakers are happy to connect and have more conversations as you see fit "

The summit is launching on January 21st and is currently still a work in progress, but early bird registration and purchase are already available:

Dottie's Tip Of The Week

If you asked 'them', they would have said there was no space on the sofa and finished at that, but for me, even the little room I found was perfect for the closeness I was craving...

My tip of the week for you today is to stop assuming you know what is right for others but ask them instead because I have a hunch their answer will nearly always be different to what you thought!
