Whether you're feeling stuck or deeply unhappy, these concepts help to see things from a very different perspective...
Hey [%first_name%],
When I first started coaching, one of the main concepts we spoke about was that of 'cause' and 'effect'. In a nutshell, when you are at 'effect', you operate from a 'no choice', or even a victimhood mindset, and if you are at 'cause', we would say that you are aware that we all have a choice, influence and responsibility in how we respond to anything.
For example, if you are in 'effect', you might say 'I'm stressed because my boss is micromanaging me'
And if you are in 'cause', you might say 'I'm stressed because I haven't set up boundaries with my boss yet...'.
This idea, while not new, slots so neatly in these 4 concepts from Hinduism that can quite literally shift how you see life and your role in it.
These concepts are found in both Hinduism and Buddhism, but they differ somewhat, so today we're exploring the OG concepts to help shift your perspective on life.
The reason why we are talking about this today is that we can all learn so much about ourselves and our struggles from these philosophies ...
1. Karma
We've all heard this term before. In the West, we tend to think of this as 'what goes around comes around', but the idea here, according to Hinduism, is that the actions we take in this life affect or impact our eternal soul journey (the only prerequisite here is that you are willing to consider that our soul is eternal and we are not here on a disposable journey).
With this in mind, how we treat ourselves, each other, and our environment directly impacts our overall soul journey. It is one thing to think you don't need to worry about your actions because a different version of yourself will reap the results, but it takes on a whole new meaning when you consider you are now playing out the impact of an early version of your soul...
2. Dharma
I can explain Dharma as a combination of 'the right thing to do', our values, our inner wisdom or even our purpose. Maybe it can also be explained as living through your authentic self, before this term has lost all its deep and beautiful meaning. Why is this important? Because if (or when) you are going through life against your Dharma, and against what feels right, you are basically out of alignment, and that's when suffering starts. When you don't live authentically, your actions become out of alignment and these, in turn, affect your karma...
3. Samsara
The cycle of life, death and rebirth, but as we are talking about growth, change and transformation, we can see how this can mean to do the same thing again and again, until we finally connect with our Dharma and are finally able to get off that hamster wheel. This is relevant in the conversation of victimhood or no choice, when we always believe other people are causing our misery, but at some point, we have to realise that we are the ones ultimately responsible for how we show up to this life (and the ones coming after...)
4. Moksha
When you realise you are in charge and it's never about anyone else, you reach freedom, or Moksha... In Buddhism, this is when you reach enlightenment, but in Hinduism, this is when you find your true self and are no longer dependent on your Samsara. If we talk about the cause and effect idea from early on, this is when you are in Cause, and you use whatever challenges or triggers that come up to learn and better yourself and thus achieve freedom of mind, body and soul.
For me, I try to live my life through a combination of the Hindu and Buddhist approaches. In some places, I am already Zen, and in others, a complete novice; it makes for a pretty interesting life, I feel :)

This week in Healing Conversations, I met with the lovely Christine Ruch to talk about Healing MS naturally:
In this episode, host Einav Avni speaks with holistic transformation guide Christine Ruch about her journey of living with multiple sclerosis (MS) for nearly 20 years and how she turned to natural, holistic healing. 🌿
Discover how nervous system regulation, emotional release, and shifting belief patterns can create safety in the body, support alignment, and open new possibilities for healing chronic illness.
Perfect for anyone living with MS, managing chronic conditions, or exploring holistic health and self-healing practices.
More about Christine:
Christine Ruch’s journey began over twenty years ago when she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). Faced with her own challenges, she became deeply committed to understanding the true nature of healing. Through extensive personal experience, Christine witnessed the profound potential of self-healing, developing a strong belief that everyone has the capacity to heal themselves, regardless of their starting point.
Her passion grew as she explored the interplay between belief systems, personal alignment, and lasting wellness. Christine’s own story has inspired many, challenging the misconceptions that genuine recovery requires secret methods or that some people are simply beyond help. Instead, she advocates that authentic healing is accessible to all and is driven by reconnecting to our own truth. Today, Christine continues to share her insights, empowering others to embark upon their own healing journeys.

![]() | Not sure if you can see me, I did a jolly good job hiding after I was specifically told not to drink the dirty rainwater, but helped myself anyway... I don't know what the big deal is, surely it's not a damaging as constantly worrying and being in your head about stuff that may never happen... Anyway, I think I managed to get away with it, and also ate some of the soil off one of the plants. Let me tell you, they were NOT very pleased with that performance... |
