The little love you didn't give

What would it be like if you embraced yourself and everything you bring to this world instead of telling yourself off?

Remember I told you about the year I spent in Mongolia many years ago? While there, I often visited one of the Buddhist establishments, where one of the head monks was giving weekly lessons to anyone who cared to join. I used to love these hours, first because there were not this many chances to do things in English and second because it was everything I was starting to see as the way I wanted to show up in life.

I liked that the lessons were all around how to let go of expectations and attachments, and how to connect with the knowing no one owes us anything, and the freedom this brings because if we want something, we can find it within us to create it.

I remember one lesson when someone asked about 'making things happen' and the confusion they felt about whether this was the right thing for them to do, or maybe they were about to branch out on yet another thing that would end us being a disaster in their lives, and not at all where they were meant to go.

Our teacher helped the person see that two elements were hiding in their question.
The first was - I need to know how to make things happen
The second was - there is only one path to happiness...

The things to consider here are these:

1) if we already know how to do something, it means we don't grow. We simply recycle our past experiences and fears to decide how to move forward. This is when we repeat past mistakes and get the same results we always do.

2) When we let go of the notion that we need to know how something should happen, we open our hearts. We open our hearts to the possibilities that what needs to happen, will, and the right people or opportunities we are meant to have will find their way to us.

3) How do more from fears and expectations to trust and letting go? These can start happening when we remind ourselves that most of the things that took place in our lives to date, were not the result of something we physically did, but rather, a curious chain of events that brought us to a certain person, a place or a situation.

When we let go of the belief we need to know OR that we know best, we allow the Universe to come in and show us the way. It knows better than you or me, so imagine what wonders it can bring when we step out of the way?!

And what's love got to do with it, you may ask...
How often did you set your expectations just a little too high, and when things didn't go your way, you talked nastily to yourself and found more reasons why they were right when they said you weren't good enough?

No. This is NOT true!

You are good enough. You are totally awesome, and wonderful and totally unique in what and how you show up to the world. There is nothing that can make you feel sad about who you've become because you are the blueprint. There is no one else just like you, which totally means, you can't be the only one and also be 'not good enough'!

Are you following what I'm saying?
Simply, wonderful, you!

Please note...

My family and I have finally been able to exchange on the house and will be moving on December 18th! (Whoop Whoop!!)
For this reason, the weekly newsletter as well as the weekly Healing Conversations podcast are taking a little Christmas break.
We will be back with renewed energy and love on January 5th!

I wish you all the very best for this Christmas and New Year and I look forward to working together or connecting again in 2025!!

Dottie's Tip Of The Week

The thing I like most in the world, after chasing chewed up tennis balls, is going for a ride in the car.
I know exactly when the HUUMANS are taking the car out, because they always get ready in the same way, and when they look at me and ask if I'm also coming, there is no other dawg in the world happier than me!

My advice to you is to keep telling people what makes you happy, and show them gratitude when they remember.
I always jump at the HUUMANS to show them how happy I am, and then I let them chase me around the house as they try and catch me.
It's a lot of fun!
Nearly as much fun as getting into the actual car!
