To boundar(y) or not to boundar(y)

Saying what you want to say, because it feels right and in alignment! Talking about boundaries...! (April 26th 2026)

Saying yes when you want to say no?

We’ve all done it.

Said yes when every part of us meant no. Agreed to something we didn’t have the energy for, didn’t want to do, or quietly resented the moment we committed to it.

It can look small on the surface, helping someone out, taking on one more task, staying a little longer, keeping the peace. But later, it shows up as irritation, exhaustion, or that familiar feeling of being taken for granted.

And here’s the uncomfortable truth: it’s rarely about them.
It’s about the moment we override ourselves.
We often think we struggle with boundaries, but what we really struggle with is what might happen if we honour them. The fear of disappointing someone, being misunderstood, not being liked, or being seen differently.
So we say yes, and hope it will feel better later.
It doesn’t.

Because every time you override a boundary, you teach people how to treat you. Not through what you say, but through what you allow.
And over time, something even more important gets lost, your sense of self.
Resentment is often a delayed boundary. It’s what builds when you keep showing up in ways that aren’t true for you.

The shift is simpler than we make it, but not always easy.
Before you say yes, pause and ask yourself, if there were no consequences, what would I choose?

That answer, that quiet, honest response, is where your boundary lives.
Boundaries aren’t about pushing people away or being difficult. They’re about being honest with yourself first, and then with others.

And honesty, even when it feels uncomfortable, creates clarity, respect, and ultimately, a more genuine connection.

Boundaries aren’t something you set once. They’re something you honour, moment by moment, choice by choice.

Thinking about boundaries and how challenging it often feels to set them, I was reminded of something that happened to a client of mine. She was in a conversation with someone she felt very attached to, and he asked her to share details of a conversation she had had with a mutual acquaintance. She knew, in that moment, that she wanted to say no. It didn’t feel right. It didn’t feel like integrity. But after being pushed and persuaded, she gave in. She shared what she knew.

He got what he wanted, but it didn’t change his actions. My client, however, was left with something far more significant. A clear realisation, she had crossed her own boundary.
And in that moment, she made a promise to herself. Never again would she ignore that inner voice when it was so clearly asking to be heard.

If you recognise yourself in this, if saying what you really think or feel feels too risky, too uncomfortable, then I invite you to pause in the moment and ask yourself, will not creating a boundary truly serve me once this is all said and done?
Because no one can take your integrity away from you. Only you can give it up.

Which also means, you are the only one who truly knows the cost of staying silent, or going along with something that doesn’t feel right.

This week in Healing Conversations

This week, I had the pleasure of chatting withJanis King about The Life Code and Tarot

In this episode, we welcome Janis King, a seasoned tarot teacher, author, and creator of the award-winning Life Code Tarot deck. With over twenty years’ experience, Janis brings a unique perspective, treating tarot as a living, symbolic map rather than a tool for rigid prediction. In this fascinating conversation, Janis King shares her journey from a life-changing personal crisis to embracing the power of energy, hypnotherapy, and the deep, universal wisdom of tarot. Together, they explore how our internal world shapes our external reality, the role of fear and joy in our lives, and how tarot offers a blueprint for growth, resilience, and authentic living. Whether you’re a tarot enthusiast or simply curious about creating positive change, this episode is sure to leave you inspired and empowered.

More about Janis:
Janis King has been working with Tarot for over 20 years. She is a tarot teacher, author, and creator of The Life Code Tarot, an award-winning tarot deck designed to teach tarot as a living symbolic system rather than a set of memorised meanings.
As well as reading for many thousands of clients across the world, she has written books, been on TV and radio and read for celebrities and even a politician or two.

Rather than using Tarot for fixed prediction, Janis teaches that our future is not fixed, but open to our participation, a complete language in which the cards gain meaning through their relationships with one another. With a background in hypnotherapy and subconscious pattern work, Janis bridges psychology, symbolism, and energetic intelligence, helping students understand how Tarot works, not just what the cards mean.

Next week in Healing Conversations

This week, I published episode #201 of the Healing Conversation podcast.
The podcast has been in operation for nearly 5 years, and since I put it on Apple Podcast and Spotify 2 years ago, it has got over 5000 downloads...

So what I am trying to say is that, today, Healing Conversation is taking a break. Maybe forever, maybe until its sister-act is rising from the ashes.

This is a 'for now' more than a 'forever', and I invite you to stay around for the ride and see what takes its immediate space! Maybe a TV channel, maybe something else!

Dottie's Corner

I was doing my usual winning at my HUUMAN as she was sitting down for her booster lesson, so she brought over my throne for me to sit near her.
Not my fault, Computer Science is such a boring subject! Unbeknownst to me, she clicked this photo halfway through the lesson. I was having a beautiful dream about chasing butterflies in the park. Some I caught up, some I didn't...

I work extensively with people to help them transform their lives from fears, limitations and compromises, to harmony, alignment and joy, or in other words, helping people find natural healing to mind, body and soul.
